Hello Meds Again, I understand your frustration if you’ve tried antidepressants that have not worked. It’s one of the sad facts about antidepressants that not everybody responds to every drug. It’s even sadder that we can’t tell in advance which drug will be best for which person.

It’s therefore impossible for me to predict which antidepressant would suit you best. Remember that there are a number of factors that influence whether a person gets better or not. These include not missing doses, reducing excessive stress, minimizing any drug use (including alcohol) and the need for regular exercise and healthy life style. It’s also possible that you are somebody who needs to take more than 1 drug to treat your depression. While this is not common it does occur and your doctor (or specialist) should be able to advise you regarding this type of medication issue.

Lastly…there are a group of people who respond better to psychotherapy than to medication. Again your doctor should be able to advise you regarding this and refer you to an appropriate psychologist or psychiatrist for psychotherapy.

Good luck.
