The fear response

You will probably experience some physical symptoms, although some people experience only self-consciousness and fear.    Physical symptoms may include:

  • blushing
  • twitching
  •  stammering
  • palpitations
  • sweating
  • trembling
  • muscle tension
  • gastrointestinal discomfort
  • nausea

You may also experience these symptoms in relation to the recollection or anticipation of situations of which you are afraid.

Rather than expose yourself to a situation that you are frightened of, and your body’s response to it, you may avoid that situation altogether.
