SAD Treatment

There is growing evidence that medication and psychotherapy can be effective in the management of SAD.

You may be prescribed a course of treatment with SSRIs or possibly in some cases benzodiazepines.  Tricyclic antidepressants may also be a possibility but are associated with more side effects.

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) may be recommended as a form of treatment, probably in conjunction with medication.

The Treatments section will give you more detailed information on types of medication, psychotherapy and physical treatments.
