Social Anxiety Disorder (SAnD)

SAD was once a neglected anxiety disorder but has gained recognition as a chronic problem associated with often considerable functional impairment, due to marked, persistent and unreasonable fear of being observed/scrutinised or judged negatively by other people, usually in a public setting

Do you fear embarrassing yourself in a social situation?
Do you fear humiliation when speaking in public?
 Do you fear criticism?
Do you blush or shake or does your voice tremble in these circumstances?
Does your fear cause significant distress and even cause you to avoid social
 and performance situations?

This section will give you information about SAD and the symptoms which accompany it.  It also tells you how SAD is diagnosed and outlines the treatments available.
