Sick leave
You may be given sick leave if you are unable to adequately perform your job because of depression. Some organisations have a mental health policy, so check this with your workplace. Sick leave policies vary between companies
Under the Australian Fair Pay and Conditions Standard all permanent employees are entitled to:
- 4 weeks paid annual leave per year;
- Ten days paid personal leave (including sick leave and carer’s leave), with provision for an additional two days of unpaid carer’s leave per occasion and an additional two days of paid compassionate leave per occasion
See more details at the Workplace Ombudsman here and the Workplace relations services here
If you have been off work sick, your employer will require a medical certificate from your doctor to confirm you have been ill.
