Subject: Thinking

I'm a 22 year old female who has been diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder. I try to lead an active life phsyically, spiritually and mentally and I currently feel as though my state of mind is good. However, I can't sleep and this is causing me physical health problems. I will see a doctor soon but when I don't have access to a doctor or specialist for a long period of time what can I do to stop thinking so much?

Answer from DepNet

Thanks for your email.

Sleep, or lack of it, it a very common problem in psychiatry.

Please take a look at the following links on Deonet, the first is to an article written by a Sydney psychiatrist about this issue, and the second is a link to a previous letterbox repose which had added suggestions and techniques on how to improve sleep.

Please do discuss this with your treating doctor.

All the best.
