First of all thanks to those who commented on my previous diary entry, it was very long and to know that people read what I write in its entirety is nice to know. I think my ability to tell stories is passed down from my mum's side of the family, Apparently my great grandmother, grandmother and now my mum were all great story tellers. I guess I'm next eh? lol.
Anyway, since I'm talking about story telling I thought I'd share one with all of you...its based on a true story but chances are you won't be able to relate to it. But there's a moral, so if you want scroll down to the bottom and read the moral, to get to the point right away.
STORY:
A woman in a corrupt country was very ill as a result of working in the fields all day for many days with hardly anything to eat but the watery gruel that was distributed by the soldiers and whatever else she could find in the wild and get away with eating.
She was very malnurished and one day she fainted while working in the fields. She was lucky people found out and took her to the 'hospital' where she could rest. However, she was in a near death situation, due to lack of nutrients her whole body was swollen, she could hardly move.
For many days she cried and ate the pumpkin broth that was given to her. She wanted to move, she wanted to live, but at this rate it did not seem possible. The nurses at the hospital were just anticipating her death. However, one day she decided despite her body being so swollen she'd get up and walk. Of course, she walked very slowly and to nowhere in particular. The soldiers as soon as they saw her start walking asked where she was going, she just told them, for a walk. Eventually the soldiers, looking at her swollen body believed her, and thought that if she could get better she could work in the fields again.
She did get better, and the soldiers ended up forcing her to work in the fields again.
The woman knew that life would be hard for the next few days but had hope that life would be better in the future, so she went to work in the fields, with this hope in her heart.
Moral: Never give up, if there is hope there is a way.
