Long weekend

A page in the diary "surprise surprise"

I've had a bit of a challenging week. Not because it's been actually hard, but because I had my sister and my 3yo nephew here for the week. Then my bro-in-law arrived and we just got on with doing stuff that I usually find is a bit beyond me.

I was at work during the days, but once home it was great to have a cooked meal ready - my sis is a great cook! It was fun playing with my nephew too. We went up to the snow and made a snowman, but there wasn't enough snow to ski or even toboggan! He thought it was great though, and it was good to do something different.

We also went to a big education/entertainment centre, and he loved all of the interactive displays, but man...how many million parents with annoying kids go to these places?

Today we went to the park. I took my little staffy, and let her run around off lead. She's a very gentle girl, being a therapy dog and all, but someone else's jack russell attacked her, and then...then I had some guy come over and tell me I was an irresponsible dog owner for bringing an aggressive dog to the park. She hadn't even barked back at the Jack Russell, but by now other people were blaming my dog for being aggressive and putting their kids at risk. I guess people's perception is that Staffy's are rough tough aggressive dogs.

Then my 3 year old nephew told the King of the Park to "be quiet" because my dog wasn't even fighting. He crouched down next to my dog, told her that it was okay and that she shouldn't talk to strangers. But I talked to the stranger. I said to him "I really think you need to go to the sex clinic". He said "what?". So I said "I've heard they can help wankers in those sex clinics". And we walked away...

And then he yelled "I'm going to call the ranger about your aggressive dog" and I replied "go ahead, she's a certified pets as therapy dog, so you'll have a hard time proving it".

Now after all that, I have to wonder why it is that the woman with the nasty Jack Russell didn't cop it from the King of the Park and the other parents...

Anyway, I've had a good long weekend, made a snowman...got out and about doing things I wouldn't normally do. It's been fun.

G

Sounds like it was a good weekend. Those kids are so innocent with the things they say. Love the dog incident.

Go G!!!
