Hi deppies,

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with AA? I'm going into rehab next Thursday and I really want to rid myself of the dreaded drink.

I don't think it will be too hard for me while I'm in hospital, but I'm sh1tting myself about when I get out. I really want to make a go of life and my psychiatrist has suggested AA, but I'm scared.

Does anyone here have any experience with AA? I would appreciate your input.

Thanks,

Fly oxox

**** Follow on from previous entry..... why is the chat room closed tonight when I noticed that 4 people were in "chat" this afternoon while I was checking out the website. Do they chose to open and close it as they wish?? Just wondering as a new user>

I do not know about AA personally but I have two friends who are great advocates for 12 step programs.

One friend lives with an alcoholic husband and grew up with an alcoholic father. She said AA for family and friend program was a life saver for her.

as for the chatroom
Access on the frontpage gets you in but no access via the DepNet Community

take care

Good luck with AA and giving up the demon drink. Stick to the 12 step program and I am sure you will be fine.

Go Fly!!!

Go Fly!
Give AA a go. If you're not a Christian believer it could be hard to take, but if you're flexible, unlike me, you'll find it very supportive, even in bad times. I've never been bothered by drugs or alcohol though, so I'm not a good person to ask! I've had quite a few friends go and most who've stuck it for a month have kicked the drink for good.
All the best. Taking the first step is the hardest thing- then you're among friends.
