Mind Clearing slowly

I had quite a productive day today. Spent around two hours studying economics. I surprised myself when studying because I was able to understand the concepts more clearly and that is a sign that after 4 long years of intense depression and anxiety that my mind is clearing slowly and I know the more I will study the better it will become. Required concentration was tere as well I was actually submereged into what I was doing and that is an improvement. Before studying was kind of a hell as I never really understood clearly what I used to study so I had to literally memorize by writing over and over again. I hope this is going to get better and better. This is quite a progress since I've started seeing a psychologist four months back. I am proud of her she is great and so is everyone here because all of you inspire me a lot.Thankyou.takecare.

Great stuff omar, wonderful to read that you've got a psychologist and its working out well. Very important I think. And you're actually studying and absorbing what you're studying, which takes a great amount of concentration, so sounds like you're doin OK.

Well done,

Hey Omar,

Touching base with you because you're in Dubai...and not sure if you remember me...but I was there with my husband until he suddenly left me at the end of Jan. Am now back in Australia.

Although my time in Dxb wasn't always easy, there's many things I miss about the place...so it is nice to write to someone that is there..because I can visualise it in my mind.

You are doing well, by the way. University is not easy...especially when one is dealing with depression. You have worked through it slowly and steadily and you've had ups and downs, but your persistence is paying off. I admire you for this. I hope you are able to give yourself credit. It is so true...I had moments..or glimpses of clarity during my studies when I was free of anxiety and it made it so much easier. Most people don't deal with that intense anxiety all the time, and when you have those glimpses where you are not so anxious you realise that uni isn't actually as difficult as it seems...but doing it with the anxiety makes it much more difficult.

It is great that you have found this community here on depnet. It was a lifesaver for me when i was in Dxb.

I am curious to know what psych you are seeing. I saw the most wonderful lady...can't spell her surname but it was Dr Haleh Azarpardoo (or something like that). I also saw a lady called Azar Katouli at the Dubai Community Health Centre for a while. She was quite good as well.

Anyway, keep going...you are doing really well, and your persistance is inspirational.

Sending you warmth, understanding and strength,

Kimberly

Omar

To understand economic terms/concepts after some studying is great news. The memory will come back, give it time.

Go Omar!!!
