Well I had a scare and a halftoday didn't I...

Last night had a few celebratory drinks at a friends and came home, earlyin the morning I ducked off to the loo, and had some kind of a turn, I thought it was a seizure of some sort, It scared the crap out of me, lying on the toilet floor like that... I hardly drunk much either so it wasn't that...

I spent most of today in bed freaking out, then decided I really should go to the docs, she sent me to the hospital, waited for ages, then some blood tests were done, took them 3 tries to find the vein in one arm, then decided to try the other and found one, more waiting then after6 hours finally found out what was wrong... Turns out it wasn't really a seizure, but the cause of last nights turn... Iron Deficiency Anaemia, it's bad this time, it's that low that they even said they'd consider a transfusion, but they didn't do that, but I have to get Iron injections ASAP.

Scared the crap out of me though, I'll admit that.

Jess

I can imagine how scared you must have been and now you know what it is it is time to take action so it doesn't happen again. One option is iron injections or the other is try hepasol - iron tonic that you can get from the chemist without a script and even possibly in the grocery section of the shops could stock it. It is cherry flavoured so it isn't too horrid and it helps your lack of energy, lethargy and anemia. The other option is to have fgf tablets (I take them for my anemia) - one every day and I am now better but think I will have to take them permanently because I don't eat a lot of protein.

Gyps is right, get it sorted out/talk to your doctor about options and make sure it is only the iron that is a problem. The hospital would have done a fbc so make sure you have the results or they are sent to your gp so you can go through them together. The hospital can fax them to the gp.

Go Jess!!!

Hey hun,

I can relate to your post. well not me but dad. everytime dad has a seizure i start screaming and crying. but now its more under control. when he has a seizure, i take his blood pressure, sis gives anti epiliptic (not sure how to spell) injection, and mum calls the ambulance. its happened so many times that we know exactly what to do instead of freakin out. elder sis is a doc so she can give the injection - bonus point there.

anyway, i am glad it wasnt a seizure hun.

do take your injections and hope u recover soon.
