Last night my best friend spoke to my parents over the phone about Depression - explaining it in detail.. what is happening for the person experiencing it, medication, therapy etc etc.

My Dad was really honest with me and said he simply thought that Depression was something that was fixed by popping a pill.

He apologised to me, saying how Sorry he was, of things he has said in the past to me about it, and how he is very willing to become educated about Depression and be a support. Be on my Team.

My friend is sending down written material for my parents and I to read and discuss over.

It has been an amazing 24 hours for me.

For my friend to have shared her knowledge and my parents for being willing to take it on board.

I went to see my Counsellor for the first time today, which has been helpful - in setting some goals for the next week and also me making a commitment to stay with my therapist as long as need be.
My parents are going to go and see my counsellor for themselves so they can discuss how things are going for me from the counsellor point of view and also ask questions.

PS. I bought myself 2 cds - I needed some music!! ( am missing my CDS - currently in storage )

Be Well.

Blue

That is a great change for you and so good to read that your parents, dad has come round. I wish I had a friend who could do the same for me. My sister saw my psychiatrist on 4/4 and we have to talk about it but he told me about the appointment and he has a much better understanding of Queen Bee and that is important.

Go Blue!!!

Hey Blue,

What a great day for you and your family. I am so pleased that your friend has been able to explain things in a way that made your parents more aware of what you are suffering through. What an achievement for you.

It can only get better from here on in with the support you are about to recieve from your parents.

Good luck and take care

Hi bluefix,
I'm really glad your friend is helping your parents to understand your situation, and that your dad is talking openly with you about it. A couple of friends tried to talk to my mum but she just pushed them away. Hope things are going well for you.
