Depnet Etiquette

As you know, we sometimes have to block the access of certain users to Depnet.

This is never a decision that is taken lightly.
It is never done by one moderator acting alone, it is a team decision.

We have the problem that blocked users often simply reinvent themselves and come back onto the site.

This is clearly not acceptable, because coming back as a new user, does not undo past breaches of Etiquette.

At present we have a number of users who are reinventing themselves, this is putting a strain on the administration of this site.

As a result, we are seriously considering shutting down some of the facilities of Depnet. Many users have specifically complained about problems in the chatroom. Because it is virtually impossible to monitor the chatroom continuously, the chatroom will most likely be shutdown if this continues.

We trust that we will not have take the drastic measure of shutting down the chatroom, and again ask users to comply with Depnet Etiquette.

Moderators

It is also affecting the decisions of members to even enter the chat room - close it down if you must but we know as low has said who is reponsible as well as Apples/applejuice/OJ.

Go Moderators!!!

Alot of sites now require a real email address the one from your isp, and then there is a short waiting period to gain axcess.Surely it would be better and safer to go this way as to continue to cause problems would making a bann more easier to enforce. These are just my thoughts Tc

Maybe this is harsh considering I have never entered the chat room. but I think it be better if it never existed. People can't help themselves, problems will always arise from chat rooms, for what reason I do not know.

I don't believe chat rooms in general are that useful to discuss problems. The diaries definately do and the comments are almost always constructive. Maybe I'm wrong but this site is for depressed people looking for some non biased support. If you wanna chat about random stuff join one of the other million chat rooms available out there. I also feel it may stop people talking to professionals or trained people who can better help them.
