My dog died Friday night

A page in the diary "Is the plural of Precipice "Precipi"?"

Had to put him down. He was 14yrs old, (15 in March) and the vet had just diagnosed a tumor in his adrenal gland and he was showing signs of bone cancer. I knew it was coming soon but....still.

I guess I was dependant on my dog for emotional support as the last three days have been awful.

He was still trying to make me happy with his goofy grin and wagging tail right up til the needle went in.

I also have a lot of guilt as I feel worse at the moment than I did when my father died 10yrs ago. I didnt cry for my Father... but I have for my dog.

Doesnt that show some seriously screwed priorities?

Dear Akita,

I am so so sorry for your loss :( I can totally relate to what you are going through. My dog was put to sleep in 2001. Took me a couple of years to recover from the loss. I believe the bond you share with a pet can be so much stronger than you might have with humans. A pet is always there for you when you need them the most. They never judge you or hurt you in anyway. They only know how to love.

I cried constantly for two weeks afterwards, and sometimes I still miss my baby.

My thoughts are with you

Nup. Priorities are fine. You feel what you feel. It's hard to say goodbye, and the difference is that they keep loving you and trying to make you happy and you still have to make the decision. don't have to do that with family (usually). it sucks, but you did the right thing.

Sweetheart sorry to hear of your loss. I know how you feel. I lost my dog last April. He was my first born son. It broke my heart. I still cry now. They give you unconditionaly love. You are in my thoughts.

Love, care and support always

Understandable you feel the loss of your mate.
15 is a good innings, you must have been a fine owner.

Akita

It is a hard decision to make but I am sure your mate is looking down on you trying to help you through your depression.

Maybe sometime later on you might get another dog who can be your mate.

Go Akita!!!

Akita, I am so sorry for your loss. I had to have my beautiful Blue Heeler Milly put to sleep when she was 15 due to the arthritis that was crippling her. I still cry for her and miss her so much. She has been gone nearly four years. She was my best freind. It does get a little easier over the years though. I am lucky to have had Cindy to help me through it.
Your doggie will be at peace now - no pain, just peace and happiness.

Dogs r amazin, they show unconditional luv & they can sense our moods-if we're playful so r they. If we're miserabl they'l comfort & protect us. My dogs've been my saviour. Mourn yr mate then buy a new pup.
Take care & b line 2 yrself.
