Hi.. I have just finished watching two of my favourite TV shows... New Inventors and Spicks and Specks....

I laugh so much through those two shows... I always feel good after watching them... especially Spicks and Specks.. I miss it during summer when they go on holidays... I do not want them to ever stop the show... but I know someone will take it away.. so I will have to get the DVD's ... maybe I will tell my family what i want for my birthday...lol.. or not...

and to add ... G463 I have given the motivation idea of death or life some thought ... there are shades of grey... and I discussed it with my mental health nurse today... I am glad it works for you... we each need our motivator... I used to be able to dream of a different life... but not for a long time... she said to me that I once dreamt of something... I told her not now...

so I watched Spicks and Specks and laughed... I used to laugh a lot too... but not so much now... only on Wednesday night...

What do we want to have to remember about this life?

Where do we find the laughter?

How do we connect to humanity?

Where do we stash our dreams when we stand on the edge of the abyss... what back pocket?

Dig deep past the pain into pure chaos

slowly we emerge only to be submerged by tears

enough sentiment...

take care

Hi Cate
I love Spics and Specs too! I love playing along with them.
I too used to laugh a lot - and I find it's something I seldom do these days. I guess there are more downs than ups. But then my darling little dog Cindy will do something silly or funny and I am glad that I am here for her at least. (you can see Cindy pics in The Gallery)
Cheers HC

I haven't watched S and S for some time and miss it but it certainly is a great show for laughter and the ABC should be proud of that. An Aussie show that makes us laugh.

Go Cate!!!

Can I ask you who your psychiatrist is and why he/she believes you won't be able to cope with the lap band and why they don't believe you will cope with it - I know you know about sabotaging it - like I have spoken to you about/do myself but if you think you can do it, have the band done but if you feel everyone is pushing you into having it and you are not happy/comfortable with that, don't have it. You have to live with the band and the consequences of it so you have to work out for yourself if you can do it or not. The alternatives are not work the drink because they don't fill you up and cause constipation.

hi there
i just wanted to tell you what i know about the OPTIFAST shakes,,,
personaly i think they're great, if your srong enough to stick to it, then it will help you a hell of a lot.
for breakie, lunch & tea all you have is a shake then in the evening you also have 2 cups of vegies, when i 1st started i did get a bit hungry in between meals so i ate my 2 cups of vegies throughout the day (it was summer time so i chopped up my 2 cups raw vegies & just nibbled on them when i got hungry) you must also try to drink 2 litres of water a day as well,, my dr did tell me that i could get constipated but he suggegsted i just add some fibre to my shakes so it wouldn't happen, i bought BENEFIBRE & just added 1 heaped Teaspoon to each shake (it dissolves instantly & has no taste),, this works like a treat,, No problems whatso ever,, But i will say that because theres not much going in your tummy just remember the next morning there won't be much coming out the other end either,, anyway i suggest you give it a try ,, its not as drastic as surgery & it will work for you if your stick to it,, the 1st 3 days are really the hardest till your tummy gets used to smaller feeds thats all,,,

p.s. if u find that your so hungry u need to eat in those 1st few days you could try making some diet jelly & snack on that in between shakes,,, good luck

another p.s.
A cheaper alternative to optifast is optislim,,
same deal = 21 sachets per box comes in choc or van
all the same ingredients etc,, but cheaper & often on special..

Thanks for deleting the diary entries.

Bibmumma seems to know alot about optifast/optislim. I know that they recommended to me to take the fibre in an orange container - god I can't remember the name of the product but they is I think two of three of them and the orange one is flavourless. Cryptic I know but hopefully you will know what I mean. They advertise it on the tv so hopefully you will see it/know what I am talking about.

By the way Dr T is Estonian I think but did latvian dancing with my hubby when they were teenagers - such a long time ago as hubby is 50 now!!! Glad you like him and find him helpful.

Are you going to get a second opinion on the lap band? I know the Wesley Clinic often have information sessions about the procedures so you might be able to attend one of them and get the info you need. I think it is a good idea you get a second opinion since people think you will fail the lap band. I know how hard it is when people are so negative to you about your lap band but remember the medications no matter what you are taking and espcially avanza if you are taking it make you hungry and the weight gain is amazing - I gained 30 kg from the avanza.

Buy todays Courier Mail and read the magazine about the lap band for obese teenagers. May give you some options about speaking to other surgeons. I know Queen Bee is goind to be telling me about it to get a second opinion about mine.
