Meh. I'm all out of serial killer/murderer quotes. Racking my brain for what is really quite an inspired quote from Charlie Manson, but can only recall the last line..."And ego be damned!" How about my own inspirational quote? 'To he who says the mountain is too high to scale, I say: Unless you've tried, how do you know there's not two chicks on the peak, kissing each other?" In any case, I quite like Geo's quote. It's quite thought-provoking.

Geo this quote might indicate that humankind is self determining... and can control its destiny... however i would beg to disagree as humankind has set itself on a predetermined path of destruction which has been repeated throughout history... what sane animal would consciously select to destroy all that sustains it and thus itself... humankind has come to this brink of destruction many times throughout history ... but now humanity has the technology to achieve its goal... we need to cull the human population to restore the balance... like we cull the kangaroos and other animals that threaten to overpopulate... humanity has to take some personal responsibility for its role in the destruction of the planet... let us find a disease that gives a gentle death... then maybe man controls circumstance... rgds cate

Hi Cateblack The quote 'is' concerning self determination, though I had the individual in mind. To a 'large degree', the circumstances we find ourselves in, are of our own making. We all have choices, and we 'decide' on which one seems best for us. That may ruffle a few feathers, but I did qualify the matter. As to humankind's self-destructiveness, we 'have' defecated in our own backyard, and the stench is apparent. Though there are plenty of positives such as the 'Kyoto Protocol' for example, and I am optimistic. Culling people Cate, surely you jest. I sincerely hope that you are not in a state of mind that would prompt you to be first in line for the cull......Looks like mass murder is on the agenda again MG, a real 'serial' lol, it's 'killing' me, and that too, is self-determination. cheers

I googled the line of your quote MG, & came across an item from The Independent (London), Dec 21, 1998, by Steven Berkoff, talking about Anthony Hopkins, of his role in Silence Of The Lambs- "Madness is directly linked to forcing a highly developed ego to swallow garbage. The more delicate the system, the more aggressive the sickness.... Madness is a form of alienation from the soul."
