All is okay in my world

I went to my first Al-Anon meeting yesterday. I was welcomed by a friendly bunch of really nice people.

I sat and listened, hard for me to do coz Im such a chatterbox usually.

I was then asked if I would like to talk about why I am here and so I said yes okay.

I left that meeting feeling uplifted. A nice lady let me lend her little blue book to take home and read.

Last night I cuddled into bed and read and read for two hours or more, this little blue book.

I came to the realisation that I am not really a good listener. My task to myself, is to listen to others more and take in what they have to say.

I have learnt when we listen, we learn far more than when we talk and talk and talk.

I will be going to this group next week, I cant wait. I think I've found the right thing for me.

All is okay in my World

(((((hugs)))))) to you All

Take Care and

Hi Cherry

I am so glad that it looks like you may have found the right group that will support you and encourage you. I don't know what they suggested you do. All I can suggest is that you attend at least six meetings before you make any firm decision one way or the other.

the other thing I would suggest is that if one person asks if they can ring you during the week say yes and give them your phone number. They will more than likely ring just to make sure you are Ok and that you are coping OK and don't be afraid to ring some one if you need to talk. Remember that most people at these sorts of meetings are there to offer support to each other and that is what makes these sorts of meetings so useful

I am so pleased with the steps you have taken to look after yourself because you are a unique individual that is worthy to be here and has a mission for the rest of your life.

Cherry
What a wonderful entry to read. Filled with such hope
You have taken a big step which is really good. It will help you understand the circumstances surrounding challenges you have had in life. My dad was an alcoholic and he went to AA meetings and I know he got alot of support there. Alot of people struggle through problems with alcohol and being able to go and listen to some of the stories is truly uplifting and sometimes really sad.
I am really happy that you are feeling uplifted and you can find peace in a nice happy place where you can be you and talk about things withouth being judged.
You are such a lovely little chatterbox lol - you wouldn't be you if you didn't.
Really happy to read this postive diary
Love, friendship and support always
Lynne
