it pays to be pushy

well today I thought i'd absolutely had enough of my tachycardia and shortness of breath. So I went to the hospital- and was really pushy with them, not leaving til they did something. Anyways it worked- and the doctor got me an earlier referral to see a cardiologist (not mine) and have an echocardiogram (ultrasound of the heart)on the 12th. Plus put me on medication to slow my heart rate down- about bloody time. Gees sometimes you have to keep getting second opinions, and if your not satisfied with an answer get another one. Cause you know your body better than they do, so you know when somethings not right. I think alot of the time doctors just look at the evidence like blood tests and ECG results- when they don't look at the whole picture. Such a mistake. And if they can't think of what it is they make something up, or worse they say it's anxiety or mental thing. Don't get me wrong that can be the reason sometimes. But the evidence in my case did not prove that- like why on exertion do I get more short of breath and tachycardic? So yeah my advice is keep seeking answers, no body is perfect and sometimes dr's miss things. Which has been proven. Woeking as a nurse I fequently see readmittance of pts cause the doctor missed something the first time. I had to be strong today and be my own advocate cause noone else was going to be... Take care all
