Well, here I go again. I have been on Aurorix & Valium for 7-8 years. My psychiatrist decided I needed a change and changed my meds last week. She changed the Valium to Clonazapam & the Aurorix to Lexapro. Oh!!!!!! talk about making me sick. I will now go back this aftenoon & see what she decides to try me on now. Scary after 7-8 years on the old medications.
Anyone else had problems like me after being on the same medication for years please?
Also I read on the internet that whilst taking MAO's a lot of foods should be avoided. I was never told anything about that. Anyone out there on Aurorix {Arima} please? If so did you avoid all the foods mentioned Tea, Coffee, Cheese, Yoghurt etc?
Hugs To Everyone.....

Why did your psych decide to change medication after 8 years? Was it because of bad side effects? Ineffectiveness? Or maybe a bigger kickback for themselves from the drug company promoting Lexapro??? (I'm not joking.) You don't HAVE to do everything that your doctor tells you. You can refuse.

Just found this reply to my entry on DepNet. So sorry for not answering it earlier.
Yes...the reason for taking me off Aurorix was because it had lost its effectiveness. I had only ever had 1 anti-depressant before Aurorix and that was Endep. Started that med when I was 27 years old. Stayed on it for 22 years. Then it lost its effectiveness also.
Have now been tried on Lexapro, Zoloft, Endep (again}
and Avanza. None worked.
Finally gave up trying all A/D's and my local GP put me on Xanax. I take 1/2 a 1 mgm tablet 3 times a day. So far so good. I know it is very addictive but I feel so much better than being on A/D's & Valium or Clonazapam.
PS. I am sure all the Psychiatrists are pushing people to try the new drugs.
Hugs, Valerie

Sorry it took so long but I hsve only just joined. I have been on sinequan, lovan, prozac, tofranil, avanza and one that started with "p" and now on anafranil along with valpro and clonozapam. I was changed to avanza because of the horrible sweating problem. It worked for awhile and then it just didn't work any more.
This is why I was put on anafranil but it wasn;t stabilising, so I was put on lithium and that didn't hep stabilise the anafranil and the lithium may have helped cause my kidneys to not function properly. I was then put on valpro which is working well along with anafranil and clonozapam. I asked the psychiatrist should I come off the clonozapam and he said I didn't have to. So I guess what works well he wants me to stick to because it took to years to settle down.
