Since I found out I have depression, my wife and her side of the family seem to not want to care. My wife did leave me for what I was, but there were other factors in her life, like hooking up with an old boyfriend of 26 years ago. That did not help. No one has called me from her side of the family. My wife, we have been together for 24 years, reckons I cannot change, has not told her family all the truth why she left, she is living a lie. But she keeps trying to tell me that it is over and was over with the old boyfriend before she left. She told me she was leaving the day she got an email from him calling it off. I know for a fact that they kept emailing each other even after she told me she was leaving. This has not helped me with the illness, just made me take longer to get myself together. I think she is depressed aswell, as she was about to have her 40th birthday.

Hi Enyaw,
I know that you posted this note a while ago now but i have only just found this site and i thought i might just email you back.
My hubby was diagnosed about 12 months ago now and althought i am not in the same shoes as your wife i can tell you it is not easy living with someone who is depressed, although i have never even had the thought of leaving my hubby, and i have no ex's to run off with, but i am constantly thinking that he is upset with me for one reason or another maybe she just wasn't that strong did you ever go to counsiling together?? i have been a couple of times with my hubby and it really helped me put things into perspective.
Well i hope all is going well for you now and i hope that you are getting yoour life back on track.
Take care.
Sammie
